So according to Tom's hardware this has like the same exact performance of an RX 580 that was released 3 years ago. But this is more power efficient (uses less Watts). Sort of an odd "upgrade" after...

I wouldn't wait on it for the sake of $10, but the release of the new cards is only a month before my anniversary so it gives things some time to level out before I gift it to myself from my wife 😉

If raytracing is not a must, 1660 super is the sweet spot card now for 1080p gaming plus enough VRAM for future games.

Maybe this will help. If you can get +30% or more in performance it's a good start. https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-780-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1660S-Super/2164vs4056
Worth an upgrade from a 1060?

My Rx 580 sounds like the space shuttle when under load. Anyone have any idea what I should be looking for that is compatible, and quite a bit quieter?

TU. Love this chipset. Have the MSI dual fan and it is VERY quiet. I never hear it rev up. 1660 Super, AMD R5 3600, 16GB RAM, SSD, HHD, MOBO, Case, should be able to build a very solid quality...

Just ordered, glad I got one. I am sick of my R9 390 heater. I live in Florida so it is a big issue for me.

I have the same card and am buying this. My R9 390 plays games around 60fps @1440p but it is loud and hot. This card will be a 50% increase at 1440p. Don't upgrade to this if you are staying at 1080p.

You may be looking at the regular 1660, which is closer to an RX 580. This is actually the 1660 Super version, which is slightly slower than a GTX 1070 overall, but depends on the title.

2070 is about twice the cost and likely won't get you the same return. You can think of it as upgrading 2-3yrs with a $230 budget vs one time deal. Then again depends on what resolution u game at....

just saying that your 3rd gen Intel Core CPU is quite old and while most games are still primarily GPU dependent, i'd double check on minimum CPU requirements to get the most out of your purchase.

Seems like a great deal given the current market. Definitely would've jumped on this if I didn't give in already for a 5500 XT.

I'm trying to find a nice upgrade path from my dated GTX770 card. I think I'll hold out for the "2" series to come down in price a bit more rather than take a smaller upgrade to this 1660.

I bought the 1660 MSI dual fan oc version from Newegg refurbished for $190 (no rebates) a couple of weeks ago. It is absolutely silent. I heard the single fan ones are insanely loud!

Could someone familiar with design concepts on these cards explain to me why they'd make this card with three fans, yet the faster Ti has just two, and therefore shorter?
