Cool white is closest to the lighting in a salon or makeup mirror. It's shows the true colors. Daylight looks "warmer" but distorts colors.

Very good point, and the reason I too opt for cans and replaceable bulbs, these days mostly LEDs, where I can easily install them. I've had "forever" LED light bulbs fail on me in less than 3 years....

Google says best lighting for make-up application is natural light or warm light. You want a light with high CRI (90) for best results. Note that lighting and/or makeup helps but can’t fix some...
