Yechhh. Last tn laptop i sampled i was shocked how bad it was not having used one in ages. Tn is a non starter for me. That makes the motile way better then.

There's a big difference between Ryzen 3 and 4 series. I won't suggest buying old series, i5 8th gen makes more sense at this price point

They are talking generation of the chip not the version in a given model year. This is the basic dual core, four thread 3rd gen architecture. The new 4th Gen architecture is another nice step up...

The TN screen on the s340 was passable but I returned mine since it was a huge downgrade from my 2012 retina mbp.i ended up snagging a s540 with ips screen and ryzen 5 chip for 450 on a cyber Monday...

I don't think you're correct - there is no Ryzen 4, there are Ryzen 3 and 5. Ryzen 3 is extremely capable CPU and $100 cheaper than i5 8th gen.
