The only thing I have found that saves filters from Drywall Dust is to get those shop-vac bags that sit inside your vac's canister and internally connect to the inlet.
Seemingly expensive, but...

Some of the saw dust will drop out in the separator and it will take longer for your filter to clog.

I toasted a shop vac using it on ash; got in the bearings. Some manufacturers sell finer filters for such debris, so it could be that your filter is just "good".
