I think it's because of size, voltage, and wattage that they use those batteries but I could be wrong.

Yeah, having a separate receiver on an outlet certainly isn't good if the power goes out or if someone knows how to jam the signal. It certainly looks like a good product though, but I probably would...

Yeah, button cell batteries certainly have their advantages (low drain, high output on demand). But they are so inconvenient to replace. If I were to get these I'd probably try to put some AA...

Aa battery on sensor, and the receiver just plug to outlet... When baby sleeping.. I disconnect the receiver... Has been working extremely well.. All doors have different chimes so i know what door...

It always annoys me when these types of devices use special batteries. Is there any alarm that uses AA or AAA batteries?
