The grinder is actually a cheapo copy of porlex-like grinders. Cheap, sloppy, soft parts. Broke on second day. The press is good!

Grinder is trash, can be had for 5 bucks on ebay, very very slow, but does give a burr mill. You're talking a few minutes of manual grinding for one cup.

How to French Press. I recommend a 16:1 coffee to water ratio. About 50 grams coffee to 800 grams water for your standard 8cup press. Start with a coarse grind coffee, water just off of a boil....

Yeah. I do. I straight up just use mine as a pepper mill. Though if you have like large cardamom pods or star anise it's very possible it won't drop down into the grinder at all.

It does work with most manual grinders. It may shorten the life of the grinder, and the grind isn't always as good. Try doing it by hand first, then try the drill. If you're satisfied with the drill...

Maybe, but I still say try both ways first if you can. If the drill method produces the same grind quality or close enough, use the drill if you like.

If you've never done burr grinding and French press, this is a cheap way to try it out. But don't skimp on a cheap grinder if you enjoy it. A good mechanical grinder can give you about 10 differ...
