Same experience for me. To help with that, rather than using the twist off method to open the stations, I recommend using a pair of scissors and making the opening wider.

This is only for the severe issues. Sometimes those borax stations won't do the job permanently and they just keep coming back a week later or a month later. This stuff keeps them away for good
