Because there is a better design that choosing it is logical... assuming both have the same price.

We are happy your living room feels great. I was just sharing facts about dual and single hose. Sorry if I offended you with such simple facts.

What kind of heating it can do? Resistance coil or heat pump?

I searched for rear pictures and it seems like it.

12000 BTU heating is equal to over 3500 Watts. Since a regular 120V outlet can only deliver about 1800W max, it has to be a heat pump. The air conditioners that claim a much smaller heat output...

12k BTU is perfect for 400 sq ft. https://learn.compactappliance.com/btu-cooling-calculator/

Of course single hose still works. The difference is, for single hose, it takes the already cooled air in your room to cool the hot AC radiator then expels it outside. If you think about it, it's not...

LoL if you say so. My living room is like 800 SF and the 12,000 btu dual hose cools it well. Do you have 5-6 dual hose units in your house?
Post #137597882 added 05-30-2020 8:43 PM by matrix5k in Deal Talk
How about posting a deal for a dual hose then instead of thread capping here? Do you go into every thread for a single hose and tell people not to buy it? I don't care what those charts say, my...

Sam's Club has the LG 14,000 BTU 115V Portable Air Conditioner with 12,000 BTU Supplemental Heating (Gray) for $499.98. Shipping is based on zip code, but seems to start around $10. Non-members...

I have a single hose in my bedroom and it cools well. Haven't noticed any dust. Pretty happy with it, way nicer than dealing a window unit. Maybe I installed it wrong or something?

So efficiency is the only issue then? It's more efficient than a window unit. It cools well. Not sure why people rag on then so much. It's an AC and it keeps the room cool, that's all I care about.

That seems like overkill for a bedroom. I just got a dual hose for my giant living room with cathedral ceilings and it keeps it cool. I have 4 bedrooms, can't imagine having like 6 dual hoses in the...

I am not the one saying it and I did not make that up. It's called sizing and that's the standard experts follow. You probably live in Alaska and don't even need an AC.

Wow, $500, with a single hose.

What would you recommend instead for a 400-450 sq ft room? Just bought a single hose portable ac from home depot that is going back because it isn't cooling the room enough in 90 degree weather.

Avoid portable AC with single hose: They suck cooled air or heated air out Creates negative pressure bringing in dust from the outside.

Question here is which standards are they using to claim 14K BTU.
Post #137534168 added 05-28-2020 12:46 PM by kherbinoskie in Deal Talk
I have no specific model in mind but a 12k BTU dual hose portable AC should easily cool 500 sq ft.
Post #137578994 added 05-30-2020 3:46 AM by matrix5k in Deal Talk
If you're so against single hoses then post a deal for dual hose.
