Yes, you can. 3rd party bookings don't give points for hotels, but flights give the same miles earnings as booking directly through the airline. And you can put your United # on the ANA reservation...

In general, layovers on these sorts of tickets have to be less than 24 hours, though you can sometimes purchase a stopover for a reasonable additional fee. It all depends on the fare rules.

In normal times with a US passport, you can leave the airport in either South Korea or Japan. Other passports YMMV depending on whether you need a visa. In Coronavirus times, rules are constantly...

Thanks! I was just worried that I would end up with a bunch of ANA miles which I probably wouldn't use. At least I'll use my United Mileage points.:peace:

You can usually find that info in the fare rules. They did seem to be cracking down on the layover loophole in 2019, but generally, it will be free if same calendar day or $50-100 extra if allowed in...

You almost always get frequent flyer miles. The rare exception is on consolidator flights or weird fares. If at all possible, buy directly from the airline to minimize hassles in the case of...

ANA was supposed to implement a new “premium” seating option earlier this year - aka all aisle or window seat for an extra fee. Not sure if they rolled that idea back, but something to consider.
