Son says it has very little to do with sports. It's more like a swinging game with different scenarios. He called it weird and went back to wii sports.

I just tried it. It worked fine when I initiated the install on my iPhone it prompted that it would be installed on Apple TV.

You have to have a controller to play. I have an Apple TV with a broken controller so I just my iPhone. It doesn’t work.

That stood out as odd to me, too. The best reason I can think of is that it's only available on Apple TV and the ratings are pretty inconvenient to get to.

Have you tried the Beat Sports Remote app on iOS? I wonder if that would suffice without the Siri remote.
