You can just just them as a regular bulb, but without a hub you have no way to change colors.

Paired with a SmartThings hub first to get the update. Apparently Zigbee2MQTT can also push updates, but I wasn't aware of this. But I'm just using a cheap CC2531 USB stick with Zigbee2MQTT.

Probably not I tried to hook up some Zigbee items previously from sylvania like LED strips and none of them worked well they wouldn’t connect and I wasn’t able to control them. Best to get ST hub.

The front plastic cover (that let's the light through) is not water tight. I popped it off and used silicone caulk around the edge and popped it back on. That should keep the rain out
