Even before COVID 19 in my area ppl sell $1.50-2 a pound on rusty weights and very beat down equipment. Most decent deals on used stuff are like 3 hours away 😢

Weight machines like this use pulley systems to create resistances that exceed the total weight of the stack. It is entirely possible that the max resistance is what they claim.

The resistance is multiplied by the pulley system. It's called mechanical advantage. The technical/marketing writer that wrote that the resistance is paired with body weight to offer up to 330 pounds...
