Again I can't(no one can) tell you which ones would be "good" speakers for you but that receiver will have no problem driving either.
As have people pointed out it's most likely a setting issue....

You might have been better off taking the money you spent on the 6500 and used it on your speakers.
IMO that would have given you much “better sound”.
