I checked out the tv in person, in the living room of a friend and it looks great. Not sure how rtings is trusted as the defacto authority on TVs either - read the review and watched their video...

And you just added to the misinformation! The outsourcing for some Samsung panels began over 10 years ago to others in China eventually including TCL. And these Chinese panels are not used in the...

I agree. Saw this deal earlier and decided to go with the h8g even though this is "less" money. Pretty poor reviews overall.

Lost native 120hz panel and lost wide color gamut. So now the 8000 is equivalent to the old 7000 series. Very sad for Samsung fans. I wouldn't buy TCL either due to poor quality control and upscaling...

They used to be solid TVs but have gotten significantly worse over the last 2 years. The nu8000 was a great mid-tier TV but the 8 series now is more comparable to the 6 & 7 series several years ago....

Bought it yesterday. Samsung TV #5 for me. All 5 still work great to this day. Definitely worth 650 with a free gift card.

A few years back 8000 series was close to high end but I see nowadays its lower in the tier. Great price for a 65 in samsung

This was mentioned in another thread but the 8000 series is becoming more of a budget TV instead of the solid mid-tier it was just a few years ago... NU8000 > RU > TU

Glad you like it but this TV is objectively worse than a lower priced TCL, Hisense or Vizio.

Wealthy people tend to buy cheaper cars. In this case, you're getting both a better tv by going with TCL Vizio or Hisense and saving money. Buy the Samsung instead. You know what they say, a fool and...

I'd rather spend half as much on a TCL or Hisense with far better performance and just spend an extra $50-100 on a 4-5yr extended warranty. It's foolish to buy a TV based on the brand name alone when...

But every single streaming platform and game console is capable of 4K and be HDR so most people would want a TV that can actually do those things capably, which this TV does not. 4k is fine but...
