Subwoofers is not what Klipsch does best. Get the Hsu VTF-2, or go with SVS or Rythmik. Different level of quality.

Slightly better amp I think, sub is the same, cabinet is slightly different. I believe they had some quality issues with the previous version.

Amps would occasionally fail for some reason, one call to Klipsch and they will mail you a new amp so you can fix it. I have the 115-SW haven't had one issue.

I had both. The spl has wider frequency response range hence better for movies. I ended up keeping the spl because it’s just better.

I only have the reference series subwoofers (R-112SW & R-115SW) one in a 15in in one in a 12in. My two subs sound similar, I like the 15 for movies and the 12 for music. Sorry for the confusion....
