Slow processor Memory is limited to 512 MB - 1GB. You CANNOT upgrade memory. Transfer speeds are slow. And has some other limitations as well.

This struggles a bit when I try to serve 4K on one screen with plex. It pretty much takes up 90% of the cpu when transcoding. I use external subtitles which probably adds to the problem.

They are not. For the money you get a lot of value. The greater cost factor is what drives you are going to add to them. I went with WD Red Pros that cost more than the chassis.
