My understanding is that 4k UHD movies port through Movies Anywhere only as HD/1080p resolution. Is that correct, or will these port through Movies Anywhere to 4k UHD on Amazon/Google/Vudu/etc?

Correct, the last transfer was from 35mm squeeze IP. Scanning the 65mm OCN was a night and day difference. The 8k will eventually be released in theaters

The movies in this collection will only port to MA as HD. Any bundle that cost ends in $.99 only exports in HD. You will own 4K in iTunes for some of them, but that will not show up in MA. ...
Fantastic news. I really want to see Barry Lyndon in 4k (or in a theater) some day.

Is the 1080p blu-ray that's included with the 4k disc release of The Shining made from the same master as the 4k disc? I don't have a 4K setup yet so wondering.

The answer to that is "it depends." And it depends on the studio and their contract with the providers. I know that's not much help but literally every movie studio is different.

Do you know why they don't upgrade the audio too? Atmos or DTS:X sound great on older films like Scarface and I think they should be mandatory for iconic films coming to 4K Blu-ray.

Some are but not all. Best is to search the movies on MA. If they come up in the search results then they are compatible, else if they don’t show up then they’re not MA compatible.
