Not even close, think a 2.1 inch tire is closer to 52mm, so a 32mm tire would be quite a bit narrower and a lot less volume.

I've used some cheap 700cx35 tires on it before. Narrower is fine, as long as the tire will fit on my 29er.

They may all be ISO 622. 700c fits on a 29er, just needs to be wide enough.
