This. I personally have a 2 week limit. After 2 weeks it starts to taste old. IMO, if you care about the taste of your coffee, find a local roaster.

I have a hard time believing that. I have a small air tight jar with a one way air valve and even then i can tell when the coffee is old.

using a 64oz ball jar with a wide fermentation lid
i'm able to keep freshly roasted beans over 2 months
at room temps - before the flavor notes begin to turn.

Spotted this at my local OD a few days ago. Both Green Mountain 'Dark Magic' and 'Breakfast Blend' 18oz bags of whole bean coffee were $3 each. Only the whole bean versions. Not the ground ones. ...

Fresh whole beans and a proper burr grinder will make a really great cup of coffee without any other fancy equipment.
However the beans really do need to be fresh, even if whole bean. 6 months...

I’d be wary of coffee on clearance. It’s most likely a few months old and has gone stale. Coffee tastes best when it’s less than a month old.

No it's not as good as freshly roasted coffee, but even 6 months old+, it's still not bad. Especially for $2.70 / pound. I'd say freshly ground with older beans is still better than even relatively...
