the noise reduction they tout here is about cancelling background noise so the person you are talking to on a call doesn't hear it (as much).... not noise cancelling as in reducing background noise...

I have these same earbuds. They seal well in my ear for passive noise cancellation. I use them while mowing. Also the microphone is better than expected for voice calls.
