Did you not enable encryption like bit locker on the drive? If you had done so no one could retrieve the data.

Look into the warranty, if it's anything convoluted like the ex920, stay away. Ex920 had a high fail rate and their warranty was through a 3rd party, not HP.

I use my NVME for the OS, programs and frequently used files and noticed a dramatic improvement in load times. I use the HDD for photos, music and other files where speed is less relevant. Good Luck
