The install mainly consists of having that top bar being installed, leveled and at a proper height. After that everything else is very easy. I'd recommend you get better screws from local hardware...

You must install the top bar to the studs. The vertical strips themselves are not required to be attached to studs. You can use the drywall anchors for those.

As I recall, it highly recommends that at least your starting end be into a wall stud, but obviously the more times you can hit the stud the more sturdy it'll be rather than using drywall anchors.
