You need a computer. Mouse won't work with this monitor. However, if you have a computer that has a USB-C video output, then the setup will work including your mouse.

Because it wouldn't work? USB C to HDMI is one way and it also require usb alt mode. This is more complicated than making a cable fit into a port.
