I have to agree, it's nasty-smelling. But I've found that if you put some of it into a different bottle, like a pocket sized one, the smell does mellow out quite a bit.

Until they change the formula, I would not buy any more of this crap. The smell is disgusting. I've had to ask for refunds on 3 bottles due to the obnoxious smell and extremely bad packaging methods...

They are using plant based ethyl alcohol as the synthetic based is not available. I am not sure if it will work with gel but let a few copper pennies 1982 or older soak in bottle for a few days.
