B550 will provide you the ability to use PCIE 4.0 components, and also the newer USB. If you dont think you will ever use those technologies then sure, go with the 450.

If you are going into a MicroCenter, they usually have boxes of these boards marked that they have already updated the bios on. Be sure to ask them about it, they will do the update for you in store...

Just look on the box. Most state "compatible with 3000 series" or similar language. Picked up a B450M from Microcenter about a month ago with the 3600. Very compatible and made a sweet build.
