I am planning on building a new Home Server with unRaid.
Trying to decide If I get this deal or wait for a shackle 10tb or 12tb around $180, knowing that inside will be a White drive.

I have the same thought. I already built the server though. Unraid is awesome. I bought the 10Tb from Best Buy for $200. It’s good. I can always use more data though

I had to pay $285 for this drive about a month ago. Had an 8TB WD RED drive fail that was only 1.5 years old and I had shucked (no warranty).

The 10TB is a CMR drive, so you have nothing to worry about here. Reds

Ever since the floods in Thailand, supply and demand has been replaced by price fix and hope the competitor gets busted first 🙃

This (and all WD drives > 6TB) are not SMR drives, if we're to believe WD (although they weren't forthright in the first place). See https://blog.westerndigital.com/wd-red-nas-drives/

also this drive at $230 is overpriced by $30. WD bought HGST and now we're all screwed on big disk storage prices.
