Rechargeables are 1.2 volts. Non-rechargeable are 1.5 volts. The majority of the stuff I need batteries for doesn’t work on 1.2v. I try those first anyway just to know and save batteries.

I have stuff like bubble machine toys that don’t even turn on with fully charged rechargeable. Maybe there’s stuff that is low draw but needs that upper part of the voltage curve to function.
