500 mA is the minimum, maybe you can use a Y-cable if you have more than 1 port on it. Sometimes routers will put out more than 500 mA if they support external hard drives or something.

I have one usb 2.0, another usb 3.0, I think they are different amps. The 3.0 support hard drive for sure. I’m going to use it for Synology. I’m using the usb 2.0 for fan to cool the router.
