Make sure if you get two varieties that flower at appx the same time or they won't properly cross pollinate (or crab apples nearby). I wouldn't really recommend bare root trees in mid-June though,...

You might want to check into columnar apple trees. They are supposed to only be 3 feet wide and maybe 8-10 feet high.

I am guessing this is YMMV. In seven or eight years of planting fruit trees, my local Costco stores (Puget Sound area in WA) have never had them less than $40. :(
