When I am solar charging my pack I make a cardboard tent over the battery. The panels are in direct sun ofc but the battery does pretty ok on the grass under the tent.

I had one of these and put it out in the sun to charge as soon as I got it. I forgot about it and it started raining a half hour later (a short and steady rain) and the thing was completely dead.

I bought at full price a year ago. It's a good battery bank. Do not expected to be fully charge with solar... It charges VERY VERY SLOW under the sun.
