Well under sub 1 milliseconds, much closer to low microseconds. You shouldn't notice any difference in latency with this in between your router and PC.

Try to get smart switch that support L2. Usually it has web interface that help me alot for troubleshooting. Other advantages that usefull for me, are vlan, vlan tagging, and bonding.

These switches (I can’t find the full specs on their website, but going by similar switches) likely only add a few microseconds to the latency. 1000 microseconds are 1 millisecond.
