Check EBay for sure. I recently got a set of Cobra F7 used 5-GW and Cobra Fly-Z 3 wood (as close to new as you can get) for $225. Just be in the lookout. Deals come and go quite often.

If you just starting out go find some 10 yo Nike slingshot or Taylor made r7 for 100 bucks. Something high handicap. No need to drop 500-1000 on irons if your a beginner.

If you are just starting out, I'd look for a set of super game improvement irons. With Callaway, those are the big berthas, which are $$$$. I'd go with these Wilson irons. They were a Golf Digest...
