If you use your laptop for under 1 hour a day 250 nitts is fine but any more and it would be dumb not to go 400 nits and higher

250 nits is fine for indoor use if the panel is IPS. But for TN (like this laptop), it doesn't matter what the brightness is. I'd never buy a laptop with a TN panel, and certainly not at this price.

If this is the TN panel for the monitor, it is seriously atrocious. I have an IdeaPad that I bought last year and I love it minus the screen. Been tempted to pick up an IPS panel for them, IIRC...

I have to disagree with you here. If you use one of those, make sure you're using two finger to right click. I find it much more efficient than reaching for the button you want.
