Why is this front page, stupid promo deals with SD. This is not a good reel.... I own the baitcast version which is, but this spinning reel is a huge let down.

poor performance/build. If you're in the market look at the shimano sienna reel, similar price point much better performance.

This reel is trash and a bad value unless it were $10-15 and you can’t spend more than that. I’ve literally seen one of these reels fall apart when reeling in a small pan fish in freshwater ...

I’d go with a daiwa regal LT. I have shimano stratic as well but daiwa IMO is the best bang of your buck.

Look into a cheap Ugly Stick rod. Putting the reel on is easy but youll need to get it spooled with line.

Spooling a reel is quite easy, watch a video on youtube to get good directions. If you're in no rush, ugly stick rods/combos go on sale for 50% off about 2-3 times a year.

Putting line on a reel can be super easy or really frustrating. I recommend watching youtube videos on different types but monofilament is fine for basic fishing. A good trick is to soak the line...

Wow....I loved my Mitchell 301 from the early ‘60’s...I grew up in Florida so only fished saltwater although the state had great freshwater fishing in some parts. The 301 was the left-handed version....

If you buy one, make sure you look at the size correctly as they look weird to me.. Their 10 is like a 25 in terms of capacity..

It'll cost you $40-$50 on eBay but I would highly recommend spending a little bit more and getting the pflueger president. Hands down one of the best entry level spinning reels!
