Same observation for HP personal and business line of laptops or desktops. The build quality is just not there, too many issues ! While Dell is no saint either but it's slightly better than HP any...

Not true. Create an account on BB with any email address and then register for student deals. Google it. No .edu required.

USB-c is not the same as Thunderbolt. They can both use the same plug, but Thunderbolt is much faster. And yes, HP definitely makes the worst laptops by far. Have had way too many just fall...

These are not TN screen. Dell calls them wide viewing angle screens. Looking at my Dell 7590, the screen looks the same as an IPS screen.

No. Optane memory uses the M.2 NVMe slot, not SO-DIMM slot like regular memory.

is the 13-inch version with 8gb ram enough for a 2nd grader to do all their 2nd-grader type activities? Streaming video, remote classes, playing minecraft with decent visuals and frame rate? ...

I found the latest Firefox is a good stress-testing tool. When I undervolted too much, I had no problem with Prime95, or 3D games, or converting videos with ffmpeg, but Firefox's tabs would crash...

The 10210U is quite hot with just a tiny fan in the back and the thin chasis, but was able to undervolt -90mV for both CPU and cache, as well as -60mV for the iGPU, loweing the idle temp from 52 to...

I like the Costco deal except it's a HP...if it's Dell or Lenovo, I'd jump.

My 2nd grader who is now in 3rd does all her work with media watching on a 100$ Lenovo Chromebook so if you want to splurge on. 600$ machine, of course this is more than enough.

Actually HP is the worst. I have had many different issues on multiple (7) laptops and will never buy HP again. I had issues with the hinges on a Toshiba and they aren't the most ergonomic. The...

Yes it does not require an EDU email account. Bestbuy student deals are supposed to be for students including K-12 kids and their parents. So you can sign up as a parent of a child in K-12...

I am leaning towards the HP Envy x360. The ram is upgradable and the screen is larger if I am not mistaken. However, the Envy is on the heavier side and I am not hearing great things about the...

Dell 15 7000 2-in-1 or Costco's HP Envy X360 coming up next week? Wondering which has the better screen.

Anyone have a link to this Costco deal everyone is talking about? Not sure if it's the AMD or if it's a sale coming up.

I signed up for the student deal by saying that I was going back to college and graduating in a couple of years. Then had to refresh a few times to see the price/discount. You can google student...

How does one 'undervolt' as you've done? How much of a performance hit is there when you're no longer getting that peak clock speed during intense tasks ?

I just picked up the HP envy x360 for a customer that was on sale at Best Buy last week and very impressed with the laptop. It is a little bit heavy though. Everything seems to be super fast and the...

DDR3 is not a typo but it does appear to be running at 2133MHz, so at least it's very fast DDR3. That combined with pairing the SSD with Optane will show some decent performance. I agree on the...

Wait really? I have been holding out for a ryzen refresh on some laptops due to better battery life. None will be dockable via USB c?

Yeah but many bad apples leads to a bad bushel. 7 bad HP laptops of various models can't be good.

Seems kind of strange that the 13.3" has DDR3 memory in it. Is that a typo? Why would they be making laptops in 2020 with DDR3? Also they are listing a fingerprint reader on these units but I...

The 15" version at $600 is definitely a much better deal. It has higher brightness screen (300nits), higher RAM speed, very upgradeable (two SO-DIMM slots, has two NVMe slots, has extra HDD driver...

I think you have to do sign up for their student deal which would require a .edu email address. I think this would make it a YMMV type of deal but if you can get it, it's decent.

Am not a student and don’t have edu I’d, but this deals is cool. Any way I can claim it
