It comes with ABBYY FineReader Sprint to scan to word documents (OCR is a software function, not hardware) so yes, it's capable of OCR as it ships.

Paperstream Lite can output directly to tif/tiff. We set it up to scan directly to specific dropbox folders. Here is a good multipage tiff viewer for those who are okay with working with tiff files...

Thanks for the link. After installing the software manually keyed in serial number and auto didn't work I am not able to scan. I am going to call customer service tomorrow. What a piece of junk.

No. It’s a document scanner and it will be problematic with photos both in terms of quality and its operation. Your best bet is an Epson FastFoto scanner.
