But it is plastic, so it will absob heat MUCH more than cotton. So even if its white, it would be much hotter than a cotton shirt.

Some people will ONLY wear cotton. It is a personal preference, however, some become rather snobby in their attitudes about it. Not saying this person was, but I have noticed it before.

That’s the opposite on what you should do. Work out clothes are polyester for a reason, quick drying and light weight. If you sweat a lot you should wear polyester.
