They use the Realtek RTL8153 chipset for Ethernet and I gave up trying to get it working on my MacBook. Sent it back and got this guy and it was plug and play - VAVA USB C Hub, 8-in-1 USB C Adapter...

This is true. My dongle only work when I plug in the official Nintendo switch power adapter. No other power adapter I tried will get it to work. Have you had luck with other power adapters?
