Polycrystalline solar cells last longer. If they are plastic they cloud due to UV. Just like car lenses over time.

So I got these and they look good even turned off! We had some of the cheap $1 lights that only last 1 season and these beat them by a lot. I would say sure maybe the light output isn't the brightest...
