I got my pickleball set off Amazon for $40 a couple years back, it's now $70. Given how much pickleball has grown in popularity, this is a decent deal.

I agree with this. For the beginner it doesn't matter what paddle you use and the nuances of the game aren't easily understood. Once you get the hang of the game and get more technical the paddles...

pickleballguide has Wilson Tour Pro as #9 (con being noisy) and the Wilson Surge Pro at #11 (con being chipping/progressive cosmetic issues). pickleball was my favorite PE game.
