These are terrible bits. The bits just shear away from their hex heads, especially the smaller ones. Had two of them bend on me too. Would recommend you find another set.

That gold coating is TiN: Titanium Nitride coated, helps chips flow out better and the drill last longer but is not very desirable for aluminum. Aluminum tends to stick that particular coating.
