These were easy to install in drywall ceiling. Running the wire was the hard part. I got the 6.5s. They sound surprisingly good for the price ( I paid around the same last time I saw them on SD)....

Well "required" technically no. Keep in mind the "front speaker" BKA center channel and sub are the two most important speakers in a surround setup. Those are the two you don't want to skimp on.
