A friend of mine suggested trying this and it worked! I had flat ribbon speaker wire but I didn't really like that you could still kind of see it. I'm sure it would work for 12v wire with no problem....

Mounted these in my drop ceiling for atmos sound, they do have tweeters you can aim, the grills come off and are paintable as well. All in all I'm happy with them, well worth the 69$

These were easy to install in drywall ceiling. Running the wire was the hard part. I got the 6.5s. They sound surprisingly good for the price ( I paid around the same last time I saw them on SD)....

Well "required" technically no. Keep in mind the "front speaker" BKA center channel and sub are the two most important speakers in a surround setup. Those are the two you don't want to skimp on.
