they did add filler missions to the story (goto point A to pickup something and bring it back, find this and that, etc..) to stretch out the game play time which sucks. i think i would have been fine...

while the decision to not call this "part i" is for obvious reasons, i can't help but think that the tricking people (i.e. casual gamers) into thinking it was a complete game might've hurt them more...

I would say this is more like ff7 retelling than remake. Not the same story as the original and IMO they don’t do a good job of explaining the story of you don’t know about the original. Very linear...
