I ended up getting 5 Flex Minis direct from Ubiquiti. I figured that's going to be easier than running Ethernet through the entire house. My next house will most certainly be wired up in every room.

What do you mean weird? You cannot tag VLAN 1 on trunks with UniFi. Some people really hate this restriction, but for others it's not a issue.
