On a theoretical level, yes, slants will have more lateral (sideways) stability. On a practical level, probably no worse or no better than straight legs because manufacturers take the added stability...

I just picked mine up an hour ago - they ran out at my local store and had to ship a new one in. I would say its 25-30lbs from lifting the box it was in. About 4 ft or so tall...
