The flash nand is WAY robust in old cards from 2009 than nowadays. The old cards probably had SLC nand. The newer ones, planar TLC nand.

When your drive reads/writes only FAT 32, you either have to stay under 64GB card size or forget about the large file size write or maybe best, upgrade to a newer, better device!
