Stem is a non-issue. Clip the inner ring out of the included tips and use them as a spacer. Or, if you're a keyboard nerd, and happen to have some dampeners around... those fit the stem perfectly for...

Do yourself a favor and get these! If you love bass these are crazzy good! I'll recommend different tips and cable though. I usually use small tip but for these medium since they don't go far in ear.

I didn't say the same sound, I did say improved sound. Tone down the bass and raises the mids for a more mid forward sound, allowing vocals the come through better. As I said I own both.
