The story and characters don't stand out, but the gameplay mechanics are fun, from the puzzles to the battles. You can definitely see the Bayonetta and NieR influences and styling.

Bought it at launch and just could not get into it. Maybe I'll try again, but the controls were a little convoluted IMO.

Yeah, the areas in which each individual puzzle is "housed" are small. Like, you won't pull a lever 3 rooms away from a locked door in order to unlock it. Its not n64 zelda. The game really sucks...

I don't like doing the detective stuff, which is half of the game, sounds boring, and tedious to me. Are the puzzles easy? So I can move on, and get to the action??

Yes, most of the puzzles are easy. They kind of reminded me of Legend of Zelda puzzles at times.

I loved this game, I completed like 90% of it and still haven't gone back to finish it - but I intend to .. at some point. Worth $50 easily.I love the story, the gameplay mechanics, it was all fun.

You should, the controls take a lot of acclimating due to the sheer number of things you can do in combat but once you "get it" itll click and wont feel so overwhelming. For lols, start 2 player mode...

Beg to differ, unless you mean modern zelda. They were all really easy puzzles though, at the same tine I never really felt accomplished for figuring them out just because of how easy they were.

I really enjoyed this game. this is a great price, I had thought nintendo's AAA flagship titles never go on sale but I guess I'm wrong after seeing this and that other Octopath traveler ymmv post.
