There's m2 SATA & m.2 PCie. Both look like Wrigley bubble sticks.
The SATA has 2 small prongs, the PCie has one prong & it's transfer
speed is much faster compared to the SATA.

Generic TRIM commands might work but you cannot use any other driver with them beyond the generic one.
NVME drives that have drivers designed for them generally don't belong in generic enclosures....
