Get a dehumidifier and lower relative humidity to 54% or less or set split unit to Dry Mode and keep humidity in check. After a few days you will smell the difference.

I have used various ozone generators a lot working in rental real estate. They effectively kill odor in the air, but my experience is that odors in carpet or fabric tend to return. YMMV

I use mine in my musty basement on a timer. It's safe as long as your not in the room when it's running and wait to enter the room 1-2 hours and it's OK. And yes these remove odors very well
